A WALK THROUGH JABLUNKOV

Jablunkov is a beautiful city with many historical monuments, but also with places that directly invite you to walk. From the starting point – Mariánské náměstI (square) you can go into  different directions, so you could  discover a charming city on the border of three states.

 

HISTORICAL PATH OF JABLUNKOV

During this track you will see one of the most beautiful and interesting places of the  historical and cultural herittage of Jablunkov.

THE WORLD MUSEUM OF BIBLE

This museum is situated in the building of a previous Monastery by the Olza river. December of 2015 was special , because the world museum and a library of Bible were opened.  Civic organisation l4U takes care of this unique world project. An exposition offers you unique collections of bible from whole world , then collections of christian´s literature , as well as paintings for children and many other attractions.

 AN EDUCATIONAL PATH „ NATURE OF JABLUNKOVSKO“

The trail of an educational path is situated in the  cadastral area of Jablunkov. The start of this trail you will find at the bust station. During the path which is 8 km long , you will gain many new information from 10 educational boards ,  from which  you will learn not only  about fauna and flora , and watercourses in Jablunkov region , but also about history of the town , Elizabethian´s Monastary and Jablunkov sanatorium.The trail is suitable for hikers , families with children as well as for cyclists. In some places you won ´t be able to ride a bike , so you will be forced to push your bike ahead. The educational trail was realized as part of a partnership project with the town of Wisła: “Jablunkov – Wisła on tourist cross-border trails”. This project is co-financed by the cross-border cooperation program of the Euroregion TS – ŚC.

ARBORETUM – PARK SANATORIA

On the way from the square you will pass The Townhall of  Jablunkov, which was built in 1905 in Art Nouveau (style) , then continue your walk about 500m  towards Slovakia thorugh Alej miru street.  Near from the bridge over Oetnice river is an entrance to the Pulmonary Sanatorium.In the adjacent park you can admire up to 350 species of trees and herbs and statues of J. Tříska and V. Makovský.

The nature trail “Walking through the history of the establishment and building of a sanatorium in Jablunkov” was  opened in 2014 in the park.

The trail of an educatioonal path has 7 stops. It is focused on the history of the sanatorium. You will learn that at the beginning it was the legacy of Dr. Sikora’s  a Jablunkov Doctor , that the original building designed by Karel Roštík had a completely different look than current functional Professor Lamel’s . You will also read about many personalities that made the sanatorium an important cultural monument, but also how generously the entire project was conceived and realized. As the curatorium of the sanatorium did not stop at the necessity to provide top medical help, but was trying thanks the motto: “Only the best is good.”, to built a paradigmatic institute. Together with the establishment of the hospital, the park was also adjusted. The park has  become an integral part of Sanatorium and also  it helped the recovery process of tuberculous patients. At the same time, it was a livd collection of plants. Part of the park is the footpath for bare feet.
